Island Breeze Hawaiian Lu'au
Held on the historic grounds of Kamehameha the Great's former estate, guests of the Island Breeze Luau will be amazed with a display of authentic Polynesian activities, cuisine, and performances.
Island Breeze Luau, located right on the beach of Kailua Bay, is rated the best lü'au on the Big Island by kama'äina (local residents)visitors and travel writers. The luau begins with a lei greeting and picture taking. An open bar, arts and crafts await you. The imu (traditional underground oven) ceremony, is also a part of the exciting beginning to your Island Breeze ohana (family). There are many ways to participate in the luau activities: weave a coconut frond, learn how to open a coconut, learn the art of hula, get a Polynesian tattoo, and take the time to meet and talk to some of the performers.
Anticipating the appearance of The Royal Court, the Court Conch Herald and Court Chanter announces their arrival at Kamakahonu Bay aboard an outrigger canoe. Guests will follow the procession from the activities area into the Royal Grounds, where the elaborate luau buffet awaits you. Enjoy traditional cuisine, including Kalua Pua'a (the succulent pork that just came out of the underground oven), Lau Lau (meat wrapped in a taro leaf and steamed), poi (an ancient Hawaiian staple food made from taro) and haupia (coconut pudding) that will give you a true taste of the Islands. From 5:30 to 7:30, The Bar is open to serve you complimentary drinks: including mai tai's, wine, beer, sodas and non-alcoholic fruit punch.
The finale of the evening is the spectacular Island Breeze Polynesian Revue with Fijian and Maori dances of war, the graceful Hawaiian hula, and the courageous Samoan Fire knife dancer highlights the evening with an astonishing demonstration of bravery and skill!
